History of Computers

Computer is any device that can manipulate and process data. Throughout the years, this type of device has taken different sophisticated forms. Although computers nowadays are electronic, the first computer was a device used for calculation. It is known as abacus. The term computer before was applied only to any machine that could be used for counting. Centuries later, the term was applied to any person whose line of work is in calculating or computing.Technology in the modern world has become more advanced when computer was invented and developed. Electronic computers became common in 20th century. There were computers that could be as large as one room. They required a number of people to be operated. However, today’s computers are way much smaller because of integrated circuits used. Today’s computers are also more sophisticated that they can perform many tasks and numerous processes. Computers are not only found in offices. For many people nowadays, computer is needed for various purposes.
