Rethinking Our Side Business

My husband and I just moved into a new house. We have an unfinished basement and he wants to convert it into a karate studio. Sadly, we were under the mistaken impression that this would not be overly difficult. Now we find that, although we live in a commercial district, the county may not allow us to do this. Also, our home owner’s insurance will not give us a rider on our policy to cover the studio. We have to obtain a separate business insurance quote. Thankfully, we did not count on this extra income when figuring out how much our mortgage payments could be. We can easily make the payment off of our first jobs. This side business was going to be more for fun.
