Boy, did I have an unusually bad experience last week when I went in for my periodical dental hygiene check up! This guy was not the best dentist by far, if you get my drift.
It all started when I made the initial telephone call to set up an appointment with his scheduling assistant. We are all hoping to get the best dentist, but it does not always work out.
I knew the doctor’s name was Laurence. I heard he was okay, and maybe not the best dentist, but I gave him a try.
When I called and got the receptionist, she answered the phone not by saying “Hello, Doctor so and so’s office”, but rather, she just said “Ya?”. I was confused, so I paused, and she became annoyed, and said “Hello, knock knock, anyone there?!”. I let her know that I would like to make an appointment for Tuesday, and I heard her take the phone away, and shout “Hey Larry! What you got going on next Tuesday”? Then, there was a pause, and she said, “Ya, okay, two o’clock, make sure you’re on time”. Then, she hung up. Her telephone conduct and her grammar felt like a bad sign to me. I thought, “This is probably not the best dentist“, but my usual doctor has taken ill, so it was not as if I had the best dentist at my disposal.
The visit with the dentist himself was not much better. His hair was a mess and he seemed stressed out. He did not seem to care about being the best dentist he could be. He treated me like he was doing me a favor by seeing me, and I did not appreciate it.
When you can, find the best dentist around and stick with him or her, because it is no fun to have a sub par doctor!
