Genu valgum is the technical term for knock knee. Genu is latin for knee and valgum is the position that the knee move into when knock knees are present. Genu valgum is a normal development stage in kids between the ages of 2 to 4 years of age and they should have grown out of it by age 5. In some a small amount of that valgum may persist. Normally this does not cause any problems. However, it the valgum is a large amount or if the person is very active, like playing a lot of sport, then there is a possibility that there may be some knee symptoms.
