When my daughter started dating her new boyfriend, we could see he was an adamant race fan, as was my husband. They had rival favorite drivers, and that precipitated a healthy rivalry between those two. However, the boyfriend had gotten my husband into British Superbike racing, and they bonded even more after that, following the same driver.
Last year, my daughter and I got together to buy tickets to a Superbike race for an excuse to fly to England. The plans was the boys could go watch their race, while me and my daughter would venture London, or anywhere in England for the whole day.
