Are Silver Baby Rattles Good Toys?

I’ve seen a few babies lately playing with really expensive toys. I’m so used to the brightly colored, plastic trucks and balls that silver baby rattles really jump out at me. If someone had suggested one to me for my own kid, I would have thought they were crazy. Rattles seem so basic and old fashioned that it’s hard to imagine today’s kids playing with them. But the babies I’ve seen with them seem to having a blast. They had other, more modern toys available to them, too, but they chose the rattles. I think they also look a bit pretentious, though they are also more beautiful than most toys.
